For most of our coastal rivers, we are now in waning days of winter steelheading which will close on March 31st. Several systems will stay open however and continue to produce winter steelhead well into April.

We ran over to the Siuslaw and Lake Creek yesterday to check for salmon moving out of the tidewater and up into the free-flowing stretches.

On Tuesday I ran yet another trout trip fly fishing the scenic upper McKenzie River. I had father and son from Nevada on board.

We escaped the heat this past week by hitting some whitewater stretches on the upper Mckenzie River while chasing after the abundant hatchery trout that consistently smashed our flies.
