Emergency Closure on Lower Columbia

| |

The numbers of salmon and steelhead moving through the Columbia and Willamette systems are so low that ODFW voted to instate an emergency closure to all salmon fishing on the Lower Columbia effective at April 20 until further notice.

Flyfishing for McKenzie Redsides

| |
Redside is the name we apply to the native Rainbow Trout occuring in numerous rivers and streams throughout Oregon.  The males in particular sport an incredibly intense magenta stripe during the spawning season.  These strong, football shaped bruisers are noted for powerful runs and jumps.  The fish have excellent eyesight and a wiley nature which combine to produce a real challenge to flyfishing addicts.  A 12 inch specimen will commonly rip a 5 wt. system well into the backing multiple times..
