Beat the Heat

We escaped the heat this past week by hitting some whitewater stretches on the upper Mckenzie River while chasing after the abundant hatchery trout that consistently smashed our flies.

With August around the corner, it is transition time.

Springer season coming to a close

As we move into late July with 90 degree days, I fear our Spring Chinook season is finally on the "Ebb".

We are still picking up Spring Chinook salmon on the McKenzie River 30 minutes east of Eugene, Oregon.

The river level have dropped dramatically on the McKenzie. As a result, the fish are concentrated into the very predictable, classic holes.
