Fish Continue to Come

It's now official: the 2006 Spring & Summer Run on the Willamette will definitely exceed the 2005 Run. With Spring Chinook still passing over Willamette Falls at a rate of 350-500/day and Summer Steelhead arriving at a consistant 200-300fish/day, local fishermen can be confident that fishing will continue well into July. Current numbers show approximately 34,000 Chinook and over 15,000 Summer Steelhead now over the Falls and headed for the tributaries. We experienced a savage bite yesterday on the McKenzie. In a quick 3 hour run, we found Springers in 3 different holes, hooking 7 to get our 4 hatchery Chinook and also lost 1 steelhead to boot.
