Fantastic Weather on the River

Posted 2 Jun 2007 - 9:43am

Rising air temperatures this past week has produced summer-like conditions on the river and even raised the water temperature, now well into the 50s.  With this temperature change, the fish are responding more aggressively to the plastics, as they begin to favor diving lures over the bait which was producing better in prior weeks.  Still, with lower than normal numbers of fish this season, folks are having to really work for a fish.  We ran a 4 boat trip yesterday with 4 very well respected guides.  All 8 guests had the fortune of playing at least 1 large fish each. Our boat landed 1- 6 pound steelhead and 1- 19 lb chinook.  No sugar coating, with this season's low numbers, that was a very successful trip.
