A Gorgeous "REDSIDE"

Redside is the name we apply to the native Rainbow Trout occuring in numerous rivers and streams throughout Oregon. The males in particular sport an incredibly intense magenta stripe during the spawning season. These strong, football shaped bruisers are noted for powerful runs and jumps. Those that have evolved on heavy water systems like the Deschutes and the McKenzie often fight like steelhead. The fish have excellent eyesight and a wiley nature which combine to produce a real challenge to flyfishing addicts. A 12 inch specimen will commonly rip a 5 wt. system well into the backing multiple times. |
