Californian Matt Essary fished salmon for a day and a half last week with Roaring Fork Guide Service. He hooked 10 Spring Chinook and landed 8. Not bad for a first timer. The weather equalled the fishing and Matt definitely went home with a few stories to tell. After battling a bunch of large salmon, Matthew elected to use his final day of guided fishing to recuperate by enjoying some fly fishing for trout on the very scenic upper McKenzie River. Again, his results were excellent, particularly for a novice fly rodder. Matthew landed five on the wet flies and five more rainbow trout on the dries.
