The McKenzie River Rewards this Fishermen with his very First Trout on a Fly

This kid really had a blast and certainly did quite well for his very first time ever handling a fly rod.  At first Matthew was kicking himself as he lost the fist four hits on the fly rod.  He then settled down and really started timing his hooksets much better.  By the time we hit the boat pull-out, Matthew had landed about 5 trout on the dry flies and another five on the wets.  We won't say how many total were lost.  Suffice to say,  the McKenzie River near Eugene,Oregon can be an excellent place to wet a fly rod and enjoy some memorable scenery.  A guided driftboat trip can be especially rewarding for beginners since you access so many more miles of water than on foot.  Plus, the guides definitely know the best areas to target and can really put folks close to the fish.
