Shane Wolfe from Battle Mountain Nevada nailed a big McKenzie slug on a Thursday afternoon trip.  Shane was tickeled to see just how big some of these Summer Steelhead can actually get.  The fish went 36" long, an easy15 pounds.  Meanwhile his boat partner Wendy, was none too displeased with her results.  We made several short runs during their visit.  Wendy's first steelhead ever went 11 pounds.  She topped that later with a twelver.  I expect the bite to even improve as water temperatures eventually rise.  There have been some"Red Hot" days over on the South Santiam as well.
