BEWARE OF GEICO INSURANCE!

Lots of Great Memories were engraved aboard "Pearl"

A huge apology to all my good customers and guests who have had to cancel recent trips with me due to a serious accident.  On Friday, November 7th, I was in a major wreck while returning from a guided fishing trip on the Siuslaw River.  As I came around a curve late in the day, I had to swerve violently to avoid a complete head-on collision with a pick-up truck coming directly at me in my lane.  The pick-up ended up side-swiping my vehicle while totalling my boat and trailer.  Fortunately, the other driver did admit complete responsibility and was cited by the State Patrol that arrived at scene.  Unfortunately, he was insured by Geico.  The treatment I have received since the accident from Geico's Claims Department has been nothing short of appalling and utterly irresponsible.  From the onset, damage to my truck was contested and used parts applied in the repair.  After several weeks of haggling, including an absurd amount itemization and ploys to diminish the true replacement value of my boat and trailer, I reluctantly settled on "their number" for the boat and trailer.  Now, three weeks since the accident, other significant issues of compensation for damaged fishing equipment, lost wages, etc. still remain unresolved.  Rather than simply stepping up to the plate, and making swift and complete restitution for all damages and losses, Geico has dragged their feet, and tried to nickle and dime me to death at all levels and on each separate matter.  The irony in this whole process is, had they made prompt payment for the boat and trailer given the numbers provided by the boat & trailer manufacturer on day one, I would be back on the water right now, and available for guide trips today.  Instead, the ugly process continues and issues of wage loss grow with each passing day.  Geico is a company that is comfortable spending hundred of millions promoting themselves with geckos and cavemen, yet fails to properly compensate the victims.  I just don't get it.  Wouldn't good treatment and a clean business practice be a better form of advertising?  BEWARE OF GEICO!
