A Little Rain to Ease the Drought

Posted 12 Feb 2007 - 6:25am

Western Oregon is finally getting some badly needed rain. Showers and light rain which have been heavier in the southern half of the state, are bringing river levels back up. With this moderate water rise should come a nice push of winter steelhead in most of the coastal steams. Smaller streams like the Elk and Sixes Rivers should finally have some comfortable boating levels with just a couple more inches of rain. The South Fork of the Coquille is already at an excellent level and coastal rivers to the north should be very boatable and in prime fishing condition by mid to late week if weather forecasts play out. Time to hit the water!
