Coastal Estuaries Spotty

Posted 19 Aug 2005 - 5:08am

The last couple weeks have provided an opportunity to dabble in our coastal estuaries for feeder Kings and the staging Fall-Run. When conditions were calm enough, we got some nice crabs at Charelston sorting through the soft ones. Fishing at the mouth of the Rogue, on Coos Bay and on the Coquille near Bandon has been generally very spotty. We are not seeing the hordes and hordes of bait fish in the estuaries that we saw the last two seasons. Puzzling ocean currents and rough and windy conditions have only compounded the situation. Let's hope things settle down in the next few weeks.
