Oregon's midcoast rivers are finally coming into ideal drift-fishing levels.  After a lengthy wait for high waters to recede due to appreciable snow and rainfall, our coastal waters should be in excellent condition by mid week.

The recent rain in mid-October moved salmon from the bays and tidewaters up into the free flowing sections of our coastal rivers

Winter Steelheading Winding Down - Focus Turns to Spring & Summer Fisheries

With warmer weather moving, our winter steelheading is drawing to a close.  While numerous systems are known to produce winter-run fish in late March and into April, the majority are finished for the season and most  coastal rivers close to winter-run fishing on March 31st.

For most of our coastal rivers, we are now in waning days of winter steelheading which will close on March 31st. Several systems will stay open however and continue to produce winter steelhead well into April.

Coquille - South Fork

In early through mid-February I ran some trips on the Coquille. We had great results targeting feisty winter chromeballs with multifish hook-ups on every outing.
