Story from Roaring Fork Guide Service

More Water - More Fish

|

This past week, EWEB, the local utility company that controls the flow of water on the McKenzie River, raised the river level significantly.  Though back rowing a driftboat became a huge chore, we were able to locate some isolated pockets of softer water that held some aggressive biters.  We found biters each day, but had numerous lost fish and, of course, released some chunky natives.  On Wenesday, we only landed 1 fish, but what a dandy it was.  Steve, my guest that day was overjoyed to take home a hatchery beast that hovered right around the 30 lb mark.  On couple other days this week we went 3 for 4 and also 4 for 5 on Chinook Salmon.
