Story from Roaring Fork Guide Service

Salmon, Trout and Steelhead all Available on Oregon's McKenzie River

Jim & Mark have a Banner Day with 4 Hatchery Adults, 1 Jack, & a Native Released

We continued to find willing biters while fishing for salmon on the McKenzie and Middle Fork Willamette rivers. Just as numbers of salmon migrating from the ocean upstream over Willamette Falls seemed to have hit the final descent, a nice blast of fish came out of nowhere between June 24th and July 7th. These late arrivals have provided great late season sport as many are in the 17-23 pound range. Steelhead are also more numerous than in June, but they remain very wary in the low water situation we have due to excessive flow withdrawls by the local water board in order to sell power at the expense of the fish, fishermen and boaters.
