Elk- Sixes River Fishing

Elk- Sixes River Fishing

Fishing Report:

With low and clear water during most of our Fall Chinook season down on Oregon's south coast, fly fishing has been phenomenal. Fishing from drift boats has been difficult as has been the use of conventional gear on river drifts. It's been more of a bank fishery this season. To the south, the Chetco River has had more water for boats, but Chinook numbers there have declined, suggesting that the Chetco is past it's peak for the 2011 salmon season. A few winter steelhead however, are already showing up in the daily Chetco catch. Just to the north, we can expect to see a decent push of steelhead arriving in the Coquille system after the next major freshet. The main Umpqua River is also producing a few more winter steelhead now daily.
